Brown Lentils

Servings
5-6

Ingredients:

4 Tbsp olive oil
1 whole bay leaf
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 tsp granulated onion
1/2 tsp Spanish paprika
1/2 tsp marash chili
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup brown lentils
2 cups water

In a nonstick pan heat up the olive oil and add the bay leaf and chopped onion. Sauté for about 10 minutes until the onion is brown, then add the chopped garlic. Add all remaining spices; garlic, onion, paprika, marash chile, cumin, black pepper and salt, and gently mix. Now add the lentils and water and thoroughly blend the mixture. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 35 minutes until the water is absorbed. Remove the bay leaf before serving.

Serve as a main course with fresh, green salad, or as a side dish with grilled fish or chicken.
