Indulgent Chocolate Coffee Cake

Ingredients:

Dry Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:
1/2 cup brewed strong coffee (room temperature)
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Optional Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1–2 Tbsp brewed coffee

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch round or square baking pan.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

  4. Mix brewed coffee with buttermilk.

  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and coffee mixture to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.

  6. Pour batter into pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Let cool completely.

  8. For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, cocoa, and coffee until smooth. Drizzle over cake.
