We call it crustless pie, but this indulgent dessert is more like a dish of baked apples with a giant cookie on the top.
3 Golden Delicious apples, chopped into bite-size pieces
1 1/2 tsp Saigon cinnamon powder
4 tsp. brown sugar
1 stick of butter
3/4 cup turbinado sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. sea salt
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cut up the apples and then place into a pie plate.
Sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar.
In a heavy, medium sauce pan, melt the butter, making sure not to burn it.
After it has melted, turn off the heat, and then add the sugar, flour, egg, salt and butter and whisk briskly.
Blend well, until you have a somewhat gooey mixture.
Spread over the apples, using a a spatula if needed, and bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes or until golden brown.
