Description: Cubeb berries, also called Java pepper or tailed pepper, are native to the Spice Islands and are primarily harvested in Indonesia. The berries have an aromatic fragrance with a slight bitter and peppery flavor. Used in Indonesian curries, Cubeb is sometimes found as an ingredient in the Moroccan spice blend Ras el Hanout. These berries can be used in African tagines and work well with meat and vegetable dishes. Cubeb berries are also considered to be an ideal secret ingredient when used as a pepper substitute in spiced biscuits, gingerbreads and sausages.
